Hi, I’m Stephanie Brown; I recently became a Volunteer Special Assistant for International Ministries MK and Family Care program. I am also the Mission Board Chair at my church, First Baptist Church of Plainfield, Indiana.
I am participating in Miles for Mission – a 5K that gives us the opportunity to be part of God's community worldwide as people from around the globe will be walking to support God's mission.
I will be walking in prayer to assist one of the Global Servants that FBCP supports: Dr. Bill and Ann Clemmer who are Global Servants in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It might be surprising that 47% of the population of the DR Congo are children 14 years old and younger. Sadly, thousands of these children are living on the streets in Goma.
Bill and Ann have a project within IM called Enfants Bien Aimes; it is a program that provides street children with clothes, meals, medical care, and counseling in a full-time day program. It offers not only classes but activities that simply let them be children. Enfants Bien Aimes is translated from French as Beloved Children and the mission is to care for, protect, and find families for the most vulnerable children in Goma.
In January of 2025, the Rwandan backed rebel group, M23, moved into Goma and other parts of eastern Congo. They have significantly affected the lives of everyone; they rape women and children and take men and boys off the street to join their army. This terror is employed to control the region and access its abundant mineral resources.
The recent violent takeover of Goma has left many children homeless. Now, they face a higher risk of harm, death, or abduction. More than ever, they need overnight shelter for protection.
The mission of Enfants Bien Aimes has never been more vital and the need is great. Your support will directly change the life of one of God's beloved children in Goma.
A gift of $100 will buy a mattress and clothing for each child; $400 will provide a month’s worth of food.
If you would like to join me, you can register to walk, too! You may walk virtually or in person at your location. Here is a link where you can register: https://portal.internationalministries.org/miles-for-mission-2025
Registration is open through April 1. You will receive a Miles for Mission hat, an information kit, and your own fundraising site where people can sponsor you.
I've have set a goal of $5,000 and need your support to get there! Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
I will be doing a 5K “in person” walk in Plainfield, IN at Hummel Park on April 13th at 2:00 pm .
Would you consider making a donation to support my walk?
Together, we can bring real change to the children of Goma who need it most. Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and generosity.
