Hello Friends, I am walking 5 miles on Wednesday April 16, 2025 to raise funds for God’s mission to children through International Ministries (IM).
The song “Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black or white, they are precious in His sight” accurately captures my understanding of Jesus’s love for children. Like many of you, I learnt this song as a young kid in Sunday school. I can picture my 7 or 8 year old self singing this loudly and definitely out of tune, but this simple song still today, reminds me that every child is precious to Jesus.
Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” As time passed and as I grew older and had my own kids, it became so easy to see why. Children are innocent, trusting, cheerful, spirited, playful, friendly, open-minded, forgiving and not pretentious, just to mention a few qualities, making children so lovable. No wonder Jesus wants us to be like little children. Luke 18:17 “Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a child, will never enter it.”
In Jesus teaching, He warned the adults listening not to cause any of these kids to stumble. Today we see so many examples of how we grown folks caused children to stumble? Wars and injustices that children see, taking away their innocence. Spreading hate and division, causing children to become mean, fearful, and untrusting. Food insecurity, natural disasters etc.
I am glad to walk with IM for the children. IM supports so many ministries that protect and build up children. Heal Africa provides educational aid to widows, orphans, and vulnerable children in Democratic Republic of Congo. Talita Cumi Girls club is another ministry that focuses on girls’ discipleship and education in Latin America. As the saying goes “train a girl child, train a nation” the impact of her education will reach far beyond her. There so many other ministries within IM helping children all over the world.
