English Language Teacher for Medical Residents

Description The Vanga Evangelical Hospital is a major teaching hospital in Kwilu Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The hospital is a part of a network of 14 Baptist hospitals of IM’s partner, the Baptist Community of the Congo (CBCO).

This hospital is seeking long or short-term volunteer(s) to teach English to medical residents. While in-person volunteers are always welcome, this role can also be conducted virtually. Volunteer candidates should be native English speakers.

The following competencies are beneficial but not absolutely necessary:

• Experience with English as a second language instruction
• A working knowledge and/or proficiency in French
• A working knowledge of medical terminology

Candidates will need to organize the content for each session and provide feedback to each student on their progress. The goal is to help the medical residents speak, write, listen, and read in English, particularly focusing on medical information and published research articles.
