Research Assistant at AMOS in Nicaragua

Description Short-term volunteers as Research Assistant and/or WASH Research & Program Assistant are needed for special community projects through AMOS http://www.amoshealth.org in Nicaragua. This is a one year internship for individuals interested  in improving access to clean water through AMOS WASH(Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) program and the health of children living in rural and remote communities of Nicaragua. The volunteers will focus on researching projects for household families to improve their homes through improved stoves (which are statistically proven to decrease cases of asthma and pneumonia) and household floors (which are proven to improve household sanitation), and provide support with project logistics of installing and supervising water filters and support the training and accompaniment of local leaders, research and support implementation of WASH trainings. The Short-Term volunteers will travel to rural partner communities to understand the context and needs through surveys and other data collection, research relevant versions of household stoves that reduce respiratory problems in addition to burning less fuel, research relevant versions of floors and safe play areas for rural households that will reduce exposure to bacteria and improve the household sanitation, support AMOS staff in the pilot of the projects, create a manual for the implementation of projects within AMOS community projects framework.
